TOURISM BOARD
It is the mission of the Tourism Board
and its Professional Staff to provide the leadership and
promote the programs that enhance economic development
through the attraction of visitors to our county and its
municipalities. Expenditures by our visitors are reflected
throughout the business community and provide a substantial
income to our local governments through the levy of sales
taxes, therefore, prudent investment in the enhancement of
our local tourist attractions will promote sustained growth
in sales tax receipts, and in profit for tree enterprise
operations.
Through the cooperative activities of
local governments, economic development organizations such
as the Industrial Development Authority, the Chamber of
Commerce, Downtown Gadsden, Inc., the Conventions Marketing
Council, the Tourism Board and others, the expenditures by
visitors to Etowah County have increased by 20 million
dollars per year over the past ten years, now approaching
the 80 million per year mark.
The Tourism Board realizes that no
single group can accomplish this alone. This Gadsden-Etowah
Tourism Partnership is the key!
